Woman, twenty nine years old.
Her main complaint is dysmenorrhoea, also skin disorders, allergy.
She is not married, she is not in a relation. She has no children.
She has strong cramping before and during the menses, coming and going (Bovista). They last about three days (before and during). She uses painkillers if she can’t stand it. She always had complaints, but it aggravated in 1985, after Pulsatilla. Rhus tox ameliorated a bit.
Observation: She is looking, but not seeing. The eyes are going in and out of contact, just staring.

She has strong bleeding. The menses last ten days, the the pain last three days. During and before menses she has diarrhoea. Sometimes, when the pain / cramping is strong she has the feeling that the ground under her feet goes, as if she will faint. Her period comes every thirty days.
AZ: “Does the the menses always come at a certain time ?” “Mostly in the morning.”
She has two days spotting. Four to six days strong bleeding.
AZ: “When is the the flow worse ?” At night it is the same as in the daytime.
In the last days of her menses she has a weakness, tiredness, as if she has lost a lot of blood. She would like to do things, but she can’t get herself to do them. During menses, she has a stitching pain in stomach.
AZ: “Do the cramps make you double up ?” “Yes, for the stomach pain.”
The two main remedies that have to double up during menses: Colocynthis and Bovista.
* Colocynthis
Eating ameliorates.
Warmth ameliorates.
Reddish urine during menses.
Has to double up during abdominal pain, menses.
* Bovista
Has to double up during abdominal pain, menses (see Clarke).
AZ: “Is the urine a little reddish before the menses ?” “No.”
AZ: “Does eating ameliorate ?” “No.”
AZ: “Do you have a back pain with it ?” She feels like the back is beaten.
AZ: “Do you have an itching of the back ?” “No.”
AZ: “Do you have leucorrhoea ?” “A bit yellowish leucorrhoea.”
AZ: “Leucorrhoea before menses ?” She doesn’t know.
Before and during the menses the abdomen is tense and distended.
AZ: “Do you drop things ?” “Yes.”

The personality is delicate and sensitive. The eyes start twitching with certain questions, when you touch upon something.
The last days of the menses she can’t concentrate, tired of the loss of blood.
AZ: “Do you have breathing difficulties ?” Sometimes she has a stitching pain in chest (3). She is easily short of breath.
AZ: “How is your sleep ?” She wakes up often between 3 and 4 AM, because she dreamed.
AZ: “What dreams ?” Frightening, anxious dreams. Lately her brothers were involved in a murder. She betrayed them to the police. She was frightened that she chose that possibility. This was two weeks ago. Since then she has the dreams.
AZ: “Do you have any flatulence ?” “No.”
She can’t stand tight belts, clothes. Loose clothes are all right.
She is warm blooded. Draft doesn’t have an effect.
AZ: “Perspiration ?” “A little.” She has had difficult perspiring, it is better now.
She has a twitching of the eyes, she has it on and off. From childhood.
Ananda: There is placid melancholia – fixed sadness.
As a child she was closed and reserved, not at ease and anxious. She has opened up since she left home. But she is not open right now.
Option: Ignatia. Is also sensitive, has stitching pains and twitching of the eyes, can be frightened.
BOVISTA IS THE REMEDY
FOLLOW UP (three months after the remedy)
She feels calmer. Good mood.
The eye twitch is almost gone.
The menses ameliorated, every twenty seven days. No diarrhoea or sadness before the menses. No cramps anymore.
* Bovista
Worse tight clothing.
Drops things, awkwardness.
Perspiration smells like onions, a keynote.
Skin problems worse with cosmetics, worse in summer. They scratch until it bleeds. Eruptions, vesicles.
Anxious dreams, they wake frequently at night, three or four times. No frightful dreams.
Blunt instruments leave an impression, a discoloration, a dent.
Bovista menses
Sadness before menses.
Blood is dark and clotted.
Bruised all over before menses.
Diarrhoea before and during menses.
Heaviness in back, relieved by the flow.
White leucorrhoea three days before menses.
Legs feel very tired, they don’t like to go up stairs.
Dropping things, awkwardness, clumsy worse before menses.
Pain is cramping and stitching. Bending double ameliorates.
Flow during the night, early morning. Lessens during the day.
After midnight they have a painful urging, or bearing down before menses. Crying with the pain.
Menses too soon usually, sometimes every two weeks. May be late and scant.
Bovista mind
Bovista is very closed. They can’t connect, but different than Sepia. They go in and out contact. Eyes fixed. They have a difficult time getting into a intimate relationship. There is fixed sadness. They want to be alone with the sadness. Very sensitive, delicate. Criticism hurts as much as in Causticum. Can’t stand criticism. They can’t express. There is a type of depression, sadness but it is not grief or loss. The eye contact (on and off), often gives you the first clue. Looking at fixed things to not be in contact.
Often you confuse Bovista with Sepia, Kali ferrum cyanide, Alumina. Bovista can be similar, but the personalities differ. Any remedy can be sad before menses.
Ananda gave it to quite a few babies.
* Bovista babies
Jaundice.
Puffy face.
Abdomen distended.
Vesicular eruptions.
Staring, out of contact.
Common after caesarian section.
Discoloration, impression skin from blunt instruments / when you touch them, pressure (page 1326).
